Amidst growing discontent, the Lekki Concession Company Limited, LCC will tomorrow flag off the collection of tolls at Admiralty Circle Toll Plaza on the ever-busy Eti-Osa -Lekki Expressway. The decision to commence tolling on the 49 kilometre- road was announced by LCC Managing Director, Mr Opuiyo Oforiokuma on December 1.
But residents of the three LGAs located around the axis have vowed to resist any attempt to compel them to pay tolls on the road. They also faulted the construction of three toll plazas on the road and the non-provision of alternative routes.
But MD of LCC, Mr Opuiyo Oforiokuma, said the company has provided alternative routes for those who want to by-pass the Admiralty Circle Plaza. Such motorists should veer off the expressway before the plaza into Yesufu Abiodun Oniru Road down to City of David Church and Market back unto the expressway, he said.
Governor Babatunde Fashola had on 29th December last year, suspended the collection of tolls on the road after persistent public outcry, especially by residents of the area. The suspension was however lifted by the Governor during the presentation of the 2012 budget to the State House of Assembly on November 14, 2011

Why no toll on other roads when they were reconstructed? For example, Bourdillon, Akin Adesola, Adeola Odeku, Marina, Broad Street, Ojuelegba, Itire, Lawanson,, Agege Motor Road, Eric Moore, Bode Thomas. Why? Why? Why?
