Moses not available for Eagles

It is now a full house of the Super Eagles squad for the matches against Botswana and Zambia but without Victor Moses who said he would not be available for the game.

A full house was what new Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi had on his first day of training on Wednesday but without the Wigan Athletic player who pleaded to be excused for this period.

It was not exactly clear why he has stayed back in England but THE PUNCH learnt that he was cleared by Keshi to stay back with his struggling Premier League club.
“The details are not yet available but coach (Keshi) explained that both of them had spoken and it was okay with him,” the Eagles Media Officer said.
Moses, 20, was only recently cleared by FIFA to feature for Nigeria after he represented England at age-grade competitions.
He trained with the Eagles in Abuja in March for the international friendly against Argentina but could not play because he was yet to be cleared by FIFA.
On Wednesday morning, Keshi took the team through possession and pressing drills on the artificial turf of the FIFA Goal Project Centre. Mikel Obi and Obinna Nsofor, who are nursing various injuries, did not train with the group. Mikel trained on his own on the natural grass of the National Stadium instead, while Nsofor sat out the session. The squad trained again at 5pm yesterday and will depart for Benin on Thursday (today).
Eagles will play Botswana on Saturday in Benin City and Zambia in Kaduna on Tuesday.
