The management of Jos University Teaching Hospital Football Club (JUTH FC) has blamed its relegation from the Premier League on the Jos crisis.
Shola Alao, the club’s media officer, said on Wednesday in Jos that the crisis had adversely affected the club.
Mr Alao said that there were times the club played its matches without holding training sessions as a result of the security situation in the state.
“There were times that we played five of our home matches away from home because of the crisis and you know what that means to a club,” he said.
He rejected claims that a lack of funds was responsible for the dismal performance of the club.
“JUTH FC is one of the best clubs in the country in terms of funding. The management makes sure that salaries, allowances as well as bonuses are promptly paid to the officials and players,” he explained.
Alao is optimistic that with the return of relative peace to Plateau, JUTH FC would return to the premiership.
“I am confident of the quality in our club. I have no doubt that with the return of peace to our state, we will return to where we belong (premiership),” he said.
