NNPC sells kerosene to Lagos consumers from mobile trucks

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, in partnership with Capital Oil Limited, has begun selling kerosene to consumers at some local government headquarters in Lagos State, from mobile trucks at N50 per litre.

The Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, NNPC, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma, told our correspondent on Saturday in Lagos that the scheme would reach all the local government areas in the state within a week, while it would also be extended to other states in the country.


According to him, 57 trucks will be taking the product around Lagos.

On Saturday, more than 400 customers in the Amuwo Odofin Local Government area bought kerosene from the trucks parked in the premises of the local government.

Each customer was allowed to buy 25 litres.

The Chairman of the local government, Mr. Ayodele Adewale, commended the NNPC for the supply.

According to him, the supply is bringing relief to consumers, who have been struggling to get the product.

In all 88,000 litres of kerosene were taken to the local government in four trucks for sale to consumers.

A similar exercise, according to the statement, simultaneously took place at the Apapa Local Government headquarters, where many consumers bought the product.

Ajuonuma, told our correspondent that the exercise was aimed at checking hoarding of the product and driving prices down to the official rate of N50.
