PDP advises Jonathan on National Assembly

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday urged President Goodluck Jonathan to improve on his relationship  with the National Assembly.

The PDP, in a communique at the end of its two-day retreat organised in collaboration with the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI), for the President, Governors and National Assembly members-elect said this has become necessary on the part of the executive arm of government to “enhance cohesion, increase trust and build mutual confidence.”

The communiqué, which was jointly signed by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Dr. Bello Haliru Mohammed,   Senate President David Mark (for Senators-elect), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje (National Secretary, PDP),  Rotimi Amaechi (Governor, Rivers State - for Governors) and Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, House of Representative member-elect (for House of Representative members-elect), reads in part: “Understanding that the budget remains the cornerstone of the transformation process, the executive is advised to create a legislature with a view to a proper understanding of planned developmental objectives of the budget in order to warrant its smooth passage and implementation.
