Ribadu advises Nigerians to demand accountability from leaders

The presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the 2011 election, Nuhu Ribadu, has charged Nigerians to continue to show keen interest in governance by demanding accountability from those they have voted into power from local to federal institutions.

Mr Ribadu, in a release sent yesterday by his campaign organisation in Abuja, noted that the elections offered people opportunities to choose their leaders.
He however, said it was disheartening that the moral dimension of governance in the country remains indisputably negative.
"We need to focus more on the goals of a better society and the vision of creating a community of opportunity in our country. Invariably, in that journey, disappointments and reversals will accompany us but with it will also come critical lessons, better clarity about means and ends," he said.
Mr Ribadu thanked Nigerians for the opportunity given to him to contest in the election, stressing that "the heroes of the process are the near three million voters who trooped out to cast a vote of support to our vision of a new Nigeria as defined in the policy document, Pathways to a New Nigeria. I thank them earnestly."
