Voter Registration- How does it work?

The voter registration exercise looks easy but it takes about 20 minutes to register one voter as the Vanguard observed yesterday.

On arriving at the registration centre, a registrant is required to write his name down on a queue list, is given a number and he waits for his turn. He is issued a rectangular white piece of paper to write his Name, sex, date of birth, phone number and occupation.

On getting to his turn, the finger prints of his 10 fingers are captured by the DDC machines, his data (name starting with surname, age, address, etc are also keyed into the laptop computer and the details are printed out.

Thereafter, he moves to the next table where his data are written down in a list. His printed ballot paper is folded like an identity card, enclosed in a laminated paper, sealed and handed over to him.

What has your experience been so far?Have you been able to register or do you feel like you will be disenfranchised? Leave a comment below.
