DDC Machines- ZINOX confirms equipment are in good order

As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday commenced the registration of prospective voters in the April general elections, the Chairman of Zinox Technologies Limited, Leo Stan Ekeh, has said that his company has delivered the full compliments of the direct data capture (DDC) machines to various offices of INEC across the 36 states and Abuja .

Ekeh, who spoke yesterday at the 2011 biennial convention of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, also disclosed that Zinox has deployed 74 engineers, two per state plus Abuja , in order to guarantee a hitch-free registration.

Zinox had won the bid to supply 80,000 units of the 132,000 which INEC said would be required to compile a credible voter register. Ekeh, who said he did not envisage any glitch in the exercise except the traditional initial hiccup associated with persons embracing new technologies, admonished the media to support INEC by massively creating awareness on the exercise during the two weeks.

He cautioned against the use of alarming statements and headlines in the event of such hiccups that may arise out of human error than technical deficiency.

He charged Nigerians to go out and register because “the ballot remains the only genuine instrument of change in a democracy”.
