Man Docked For Stealing his seized Okada From a Police Station

A 24-year old man, Godswill Ndubisi, has been charged to a Lagos court for allegedly stealing his seized motorcycle at a police station in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

Ndubisi was arrested and charged to Apapa Magistrate’s Court with theft by the police at Ajeromi Police Division, Ajegunle, where the motorcycle was stolen.

The Enugu State-born man claimed that the police impounded his motorcycle along the road and threatened to transfer the case to Alausa where he believed it would be finally forfeited to the Lagos State government.

He argued that he did not steal the motorcycle but only went to the police station to pick it, adding that he would blame himself if he did not do so.

P.M.NEWS gathered that Ndubisi was accosted by the police for flaunting traffic laws.
He pleaded with the police who insisted that he contravened the law and thereby seized the motorcycle.

When the police did not release the bike, it was alleged that Ndubisi sneaked into the station and used his spare key to drive the motorcycle with registration number, QX 646 FS away.

His action caused confusion at the station after they discovered that the motorcycle was missing.
P.M.NEWS gathered that when Ndubisi was later arrested, he confessed that he did so in order to save his motorcycle.

The prosecutor, Mr Kalu Uche, told the court that the offence Ndubisi committed was contrary to Section 285 of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

He pleaded not guilty and the presiding magistrate, Mr A K Shonubi, granted him bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety in like sum.
