Security agencies have successfully rescued eight people who were abducted in the Millennium City and Maraban Rido areas of Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, following coordinated operations carried out between October 31 and November 2, 2026.
The rescue mission involved the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the military, and the Kaduna State Government.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday at the DSS Command Headquarters in Kaduna, Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and dismantle criminal networks operating in the Millennium City axis and surrounding communities.
According to Rabiu, the area has experienced repeated kidnapping incidents in recent months, raising concerns among residents and attracting widespread public attention. He reaffirmed the commitment of security agencies to restoring safety and bringing those responsible to justice.
The rescued victims were identified as Jamila Muhammad (27), Talatu Yakubu (40), Yunana Bawa (30), Calista Bishop (27), Chidinma Onuwere (36), Eucharia Obi (41), Godiya Victor (50), and eight-year-old Miracle Alex.
The latest rescue comes just weeks after security operatives secured the release of Ahmad Zakka and his family from captivity on October 15, 2026.
Rabiu described the successive rescues as evidence of the determination of security agencies to protect residents, free kidnapping victims, and dismantle organised criminal groups across Kaduna State.
He commended the contributions of the ONSA, DSS, police, military, and the Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani, noting that effective collaboration has strengthened the fight against kidnapping and banditry.
The police commissioner also linked the security gains to President Bola Tinubu's commitment to improving national security through better coordination among intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
To further strengthen operations, Rabiu disclosed that additional security assets, including 30 patrol vehicles and eight armoured personnel carriers, have been deployed across the state to improve response capabilities and restrict the movement of criminal elements.
He urged residents, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to support security efforts by providing timely and credible intelligence, assuring them that all information received would be treated confidentially.
Rabiu further appealed to media organisations to report security issues responsibly and avoid spreading unverified information that could undermine ongoing operations or create unnecessary panic.
He reaffirmed the commitment of all security agencies and the Kaduna State Government to sustaining operations aimed at eliminating kidnapping and restoring lasting peace across Kaduna State.
