President Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Campaign Trips to Akwa Ibom, Rivers

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after a two-state visit to Akwa Ibom and Rivers states, where he inaugurated projects and attended All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rallies.

The President, accompanied by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, arrived back in the capital on Saturday night, 7 November 2026, after concluding his engagements in the two South-South states.

Tinubu first travelled to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Friday. There he commissioned several projects completed under Governor Umo Eno’s administration. These included the new International Terminal Building, the International Airport Hospital and the Ibom Aviation Village, all at the Victor Attah International Airport.

He also inaugurated the Airport-Okopedi Road (linking communities in Nsit Atai and Okobo local government areas), Ring Road 3 (connecting Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom), the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, the Command and Control Centre, and the ARISE Palm Resort. The state government had declared Friday a work-free day to facilitate a strong reception for the President.

From Uyo, Tinubu proceeded to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday for the APC presidential campaign rally. The event was his third major rally since he formally launched his re-election campaign in Kaduna the previous month.

During the Rivers rally, the President engaged with political stakeholders and supporters, emphasising unity and national progress. He later departed the state for Abuja, bringing the two-day tour to a close.

The official Presidency account confirmed the return, describing the campaign rallies in both states as successful.
