The Lagos state police command says it has uncovered a suspected high-tech indoor c@nnabis farm at a residential property in the Apapa area of the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Abimbola Adebisi, the
command’s spokesperson, said the discovery was made on November 2 following
intelligence reports received by its operatives.
She said the operatives acted on the information and
searched the premises, where they discovered a “sophisticated indoor farming
facility equipped for the cultivation, harvesting and processing of substances
suspected to be c@nnabis”.
The police said two suspects, identified as Thomas
Razvickas, a 49-year-old Polish national, and James Chisome, a 36-year-old
Nigerian, were arrested in connection with the discovery.
Both suspects are residents of the property where the
facility was uncovered.
According to the statement, the suspects are in police
custody and have made confessional statements while providing information to
assist the ongoing investigation.
Tijani Fatai, the commissioner of police in Lagos, visited
the scene to assess the facility and receive a briefing on the investigation.
Fatai urged residents to provide useful information to the
police, assuring the public that the command would remain proactive and
resolute in its efforts to rid the state of criminal activities.
