Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed confidence that the prevailing peace and unity in Rivers State will secure victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Akpabio made the remarks on Saturday, 7 November 2026, at the Rivers State Rainbow Coalition rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt. He said cooperation among political leaders and stakeholders in the state had created the conditions needed for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to deliver Rivers votes for the President.
Addressing Tinubu, the Senate President stated: “The ingredient needed in this zone, particularly Rivers State, to return you to the Villa on January 16, 2027, is peace. There is total peace in Rivers State, and with the unity among political leaders and stakeholders, Mr President will be delivered.”
Akpabio recalled that Rivers was the only state in the South-South geopolitical zone that voted for the APC in the 2023 presidential election. He expressed optimism that the people would once again support Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The Senate President also voiced confidence that the broader South-South region would back the President, attributing the positive outlook to the restored political harmony in Rivers State following earlier tensions.
