Bandits loyal to a notorious kingpin known as Aleru have reportedly killed a rival bandit leader, Kachalla Dogo Baldu, during a clash between armed groups in the eastern part of Mada, Zamfara State.
The development was disclosed by counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama in a post on X.
According to Makama, Dogo Baldu was killed in the fierce fighting, which also claimed the lives of several of his fighters.
Reports from the area indicated that the clashes were still ongoing at the time, raising fears of further casualties as the rival groups continued their confrontation.
“The fighting is believed to reflect the continuing rivalry among armed criminal groups operating in parts of Zamfara State, where competing factions have engaged in violent confrontations over influence and territorial control,” Makama said.
Total casualty figures could not be independently confirmed at the time of the report.
