Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has inaugurated the Office of the Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation within the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting in Abuja on Thursday, Umahi, who serves as the DDG for Infrastructure, said the team’s mandate is to identify, document, and publicise federal infrastructure projects across ministries, departments, and agencies nationwide.
He explained that while the Ministry of Works accounts for a large share of government investments, the campaign team’s coverage would extend to all sectors to ensure a comprehensive record of development across the six geopolitical zones.
“The team’s primary responsibility is to compile and publicise infrastructure projects executed by the Federal Government. This will provide Nigerians with a clear overview of the developmental strides of the Renewed Hope Administration,” Umahi stated.
He emphasised collaboration between zonal coordinators, senior presidential aides on community engagement, and other members of the office to ensure accurate documentation and effective communication of projects.
Highlighting infrastructure as a driver of economic growth, community integration, and national development, Umahi noted that investments in roads, bridges, and other facilities stimulate economic activity, connect communities, and create opportunities.
He also pointed to the adoption of continuous reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) technology in road construction, which reduces reliance on imported bitumen, supports local industries, and delivers more durable infrastructure.
Umahi urged the team to ensure that information on government projects is properly compiled and widely disseminated, stressing that transparency and accessibility would strengthen public confidence in the administration’s achievements.
