Tinubu’s Reforms Boosting States’ Resources — Gov. Bola Mohammed

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying they have increased resources available to subnational governments and positively impacted grassroots development.

Mohammed made the remarks on Monday while receiving the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, who paid him a courtesy visit in Bauchi.

The governor said the Federal Government’s reforms had expanded states’ financial capacity, creating room for better infrastructure and improved service delivery.

“We are always proud of this kind of partnership. We, as subnationals, are always looking forward to the Federal Government bringing good things to us. We don’t always oppose and criticise for the sake of criticising. When we see good things, we say it. The President has done so well in so many aspects, especially in the area of finance, because the states are getting more,” Mohammed said.

He also commended federal interventions in the health sector, particularly the establishment of diagnostic facilities and other health infrastructure nationwide, noting that the collaboration would enhance access to quality healthcare.

“We are very grateful for what you have brought to us. Definitely, more Nigerians will have access to improved healthcare and a better standard of living,” he added.

On security, the governor expressed gratitude for the creation of two military battalions in Alkaleri and Tafawa Balewa local government areas.

He said the Federal Government’s response had helped restore peace and enabled displaced residents to return home.

“I want to really affirm our gratitude to Mr President, especially in the area of security. He has just established two battalions, one in Alkaleri and another one in Tafawa Balewa. The people of Bauchi are very proud of him. When we were almost overrun by bandits, nobody was coming to our aid. I went to him, and he responded,” Mohammed stated.

He assured the ministers of the state government’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the Federal Government to improve residents’ quality of life.

Pate explained that the visit was to commission newly completed health infrastructure under the Federal Government’s health sector expansion programme, including a world-class radiodiagnostic centre at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital.

He noted that 10 such facilities had been established nationwide, describing it as the largest expansion of health infrastructure and equipment in the country.

Oyedele described the health projects as dividends of Tinubu’s economic reforms, which aim to stabilise the macroeconomy, restore investor confidence and strengthen institutions.

He emphasised the importance of strong federal-state partnership in translating economic stability into tangible benefits for citizens.
