Retired police officers, their wives and children on Wednesday marched to the National Assembly, demanding an immediate exit from the Contributory Pension Scheme, CPS.
In a video making the rounds online, the protesters were
heard chanting, “President Tinubu, sign our bill,” as they called on the
President to address their demands.
The children were also seen carrying placards during the
protest.
The demonstration comes a day after military retirees
barricaded the entrance to the Military Pensions Board office in Dutse Alhaji,
Abuja, to protest the formula adopted for adjusting their pensions.
The protesting retired officers blocked access to the
premises with canopies and chairs, while armed soldiers prevented them from
entering the office.
