Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have intensified counter-terrorism operations, arresting a suspected collaborator in Kaduna State, destroying improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Zamfara, and recovering dozens of rustled livestock.
According to a statement by the force’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Sector 1 troops acting on intelligence apprehended Yusuf Adamu in Kuyello, Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna.
Preliminary interrogation revealed his alleged involvement in terrorist activities, including recording ransom videos of kidnap victims.
He reportedly admitted to receiving ₦50,000 for his role in one operation.Investigations are ongoing to track down the alleged principal suspect, Yusuf Iliya Sani, and other accomplices.
In Zamfara, Sector 2 troops working with the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team destroyed three IEDs planted along the Magami–Dansadau road.
The clearance operation was hailed by residents and road users, who welcomed the improved safety along the route.
Troops also recovered 73 rustled animals, 14 camels, 19 cows, and 40 shees abandoned by fleeing terrorists between Kombo and Gurusu villages.
The livestock has been secured in collaboration with local vigilantes.The military emphasized that these operations demonstrate its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, eliminating explosive threats, and safeguarding lives and property across the North-West.
It urged residents to continue providing credible intelligence to support ongoing missions.
