There was mild drama live on air on Tuesday as Arise TV presenter Rufai Oseni and the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, clashed over President Bola Tinubu’s remarks at the Kaduna campaign rally and the state of Nigeria’s economy.
The heated exchange began when Oseni questioned Morka about the current economic conditions under the Tinubu administration and the hardship faced by many Nigerians. In response, Morka defended the president’s comments at the APC presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna.
He insisted there was nothing wrong with what Tinubu said, arguing that the rally was not a policy summit or dialogue where the president was expected to deliver a detailed policy speech.According to Morka, all Tinubu needed to do in Kaduna was show up and urge people to support him again for a second term.
He dismissed some of the criticism as coming from what he described as “opposition tribesmen dressed as journalists.”Oseni, however, maintained that Morka was dodging the core issue of the economic hardship confronting citizens. He pressed the APC spokesman to address the state of the economy directly.
During the exchange, Oseni told Morka: “You are yet to answer my question about the current state of Nigeria’s economy. Respond whenever you are ready to answer.”The clash occurred amid ongoing public debate over the impact of the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms and the president’s recent campaign messaging ahead of the 2027 general elections.
