Plateau Has Benefited Most Under Tinubu's Administration -Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that President Bola Tinubu has delivered more projects and interventions to Plateau State than any previous Nigerian president, urging residents to support his re-election bid in 2027.

Yilwatda made the remarks on Wednesday during the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement rally in Jos, where he encouraged APC members and supporters to mobilise for Tinubu’s second-term campaign.

According to the APC chairman, Plateau State has gained significant benefits from the current administration, making it unnecessary for residents to support any other presidential candidate. “President Bola Tinubu is a friend of Plateau State. No president in the history of Nigeria has been able to stand with the state the way Mr President has done for us,” he said.

Yilwatda also criticised former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, questioning the impact of his eight years in office on Plateau State. He argued that previous administrations offered only limited interventions, while the Tinubu administration was attracting major projects to the state.

The APC chairman highlighted investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure and security, adding that the President had approved significant development initiatives for Plateau.

On insecurity, which he described as the state's biggest challenge, Yilwatda said the Federal Government had taken concrete steps to improve the situation.

“If you ask any Plateau man, ‘What is your problem?’ The number one problem is insecurity, and Mr President has addressed it,” he stated.

Also speaking at the event, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang expressed support for Tinubu, revealing that a meeting with the President in June 2023 convinced him of Tinubu’s commitment to Nigeria’s development despite political differences at the time. Mutfwang acknowledged that the country still faces challenges but maintained that progress was being made, particularly in the area of security.

“Yes, we are not there yet. There are challenges in the country. We will not deny them, but definitely we are on the road to making things right,” the governor said.

He commended the President for encouraging his administration’s efforts to tackle insecurity and expressed confidence in the Federal Government’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across Plateau State and the country.

The governor described the PBAT Door-to-Door initiative as a grassroots movement aimed at reaching communities across the state and mobilising support ahead of future elections. Founder of the campaign movement, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, was represented at the rally by the group’s National Coordinator, Adekanbi Sunday Asuku.

As part of efforts to strengthen mobilisation activities, the group donated 28 campaign vehicles for use across Plateau State.
