Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, has raised alarm over an alleged attack on his wife, Mrs Tawakalitu Alli, as well as assaults on two other party candidates.
In a statement signed by Bisi Oladele, director of his campaign organisation (SSACO), and released on Thursday, Alli said hoodlums attacked his wife during a programme at Ibikunle Palace in Ibadan on Wednesday.
He further alleged that miscreants also attacked the APC’s Oyo South senatorial candidate, Remi Oseni, and the House of Representatives candidate for the Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, Hon. Folake Olunloyo-Oshinlowo, at separate locations in Ibadan the same day.
Describing the incidents as “unwarranted and barbaric,” Alli stressed that Governor Seyi Makinde, as the state’s chief security officer, has a duty to protect all residents regardless of political affiliation.
“The SSACO calls on security agencies to fish out these perpetrators of violence and bring them to book in order to serve justice to the victims and also serve as a deterrent to violence in our dear state,” the statement added.
