Osun APC Rejects Short Notice for Tinubu Campaign Council Inauguration

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed dissatisfaction over the short notice given for the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu’s State Presidential Campaign Committee, saying party leaders were not properly briefed before the announcement.

In a statement signed by Osun APC chairman Tajudeen Lawal, the party noted that the list of the 344-member council was released on social media by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, less than 24 hours before the scheduled event.

Prominent figures named on the council include former Governor Bisi Akande, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola, APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru, former Speaker Foluke Etteh, and several senators and party chieftains.

The inclusion of opposition members from the PDP and Accord also raised concerns.Lawal stressed that while the APC supports Tinubu’s re-election bid, the process should be handled with proper protocol.

“We are talking about the re-election of the President of the nation under the largest democratic party in Sub-Saharan Africa, not a local council election. Less than 12 hours’ notice is too short and excludes many stakeholders,” he said.

He warned that the arrangement could create unnecessary friction between the party and the state campaign coordinator, but emphasized that the APC remained committed to Tinubu’s re-election.

“Our concern is that things should be done properly to achieve the desired results,” Lawal added.
