The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has expressed strong confidence in the governorship ambition of Dr Kadri Hamzat, describing him as a capable leader with the experience and vision needed to sustain Lagos State’s development.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Research, Media and Documentation, Adeshina Oyetayo, Obasa endorsed Hamzat’s manifesto, known as the Lagos P.R.O.M.I.S.E (Ileri Eko) Agenda, which was formally presented at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Iganmu, Lagos.
The manifesto, which stands for People First, Renewal, Opportunity, Machinery of Government, Inclusion, Security and Resilience, and Everyday Dignity, outlines policy priorities across key sectors of the state’s economy and governance.
Obasa described the document as a practical and well-thought-out blueprint that demonstrates a deep understanding of Lagos’ challenges and opportunities. He praised Hamzat’s educational background, public service record and professional experience, stating that they have adequately prepared him for higher leadership responsibilities.
According to the Speaker, Hamzat possesses the competence, character and determination required to advance the socio-economic development of Lagos and build upon the achievements of previous administrations.
He noted that the manifesto focuses on critical areas such as transportation, environmental sustainability, flood control, waste management, housing, healthcare, education, security and economic growth. The plan also emphasises continuity in governance, accountability, measurable targets and citizen-focused policies.
Obasa further highlighted the manifesto’s commitment to consolidating ongoing infrastructure projects, including the state’s rail transport network, while ensuring that government programmes deliver tangible benefits to residents.
He said Lagosians should expect a governance model that prioritises transparency and accountability, noting that the manifesto contains specific timelines that would enable citizens to assess the implementation of campaign promises.
Hamzat, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 Lagos State governorship election, has pledged to continue the developmental trajectory of the state through the implementation of the Lagos P.R.O.M.I.S.E agenda.
