The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has petitioned the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Olugbenga, over the alleged killing of Pa Biliaminu Taiwo inside a mosque in Fiditi, Afijio Local Government Area, in 2019.
In a statement signed by its Oyo State Secretary, Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade, and made available in Ibadan on Friday, MURIC alleged that Taiwo was hacked to death in November 2019 while worshipping in the mosque.
Agunbiade disclosed that a suspect, identified as Ojo Akinlabi, has been arrested in connection with the crime. He urged the police commissioner to ensure a thorough investigation and cautioned against granting the suspect freedom before arraignment in court.
The organisation emphasized the need for justice, insisting that the matter must be pursued diligently to prevent further erosion of public confidence in law enforcement.
