Mr 2Kay, the Nigerian singer, has revealed that his record label only gave him N2 million from the N10 million compensation he received from Eko Hotel and Suites following a robbery attack in 2017.
Burna Boy was alleged to have orchestrated an attack on Mr
2kay during which the latter was robbed and beaten to a pulp at an event.
The Grammy winner was then declared wanted by the police, after which he was arraigned at a Lagos court.
Speaking in a recent interview with Yanga FM, the singer
said the hotel later compensated him with N10 million after the incident.
He, however, alleged that his record label handed him only
N2 million, which prompted him to leave the label.
“When Burna Boy sent boys to beat me up in Eko Hotel, the
boys attacked me and ended up robbing me. Eko Hotel later compensated me with
N10 million but my record label gave me only N2 million out of it. So, I left
the record label,” he said.
In 2021, the singers settled their longstanding feud and
were seen hanging out together at a party.
Born Abinye David Jumbo, Mr 2Kay was formally signed by
Grafton Entertainment, but left the label in 2018 to start his own imprint
Better Life Entertainment.
Mr 2Kay started gaining traction in 2012 after the release
of his hit single ‘Bubugaga’.
