A spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Alwan Hassan, has alleged that many Nigerian ministers pay billions of naira to secure their appointments.
Hassan made the claim on Thursday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time.
“A lot of ministers pay billions to be appointed, and the first thing they think of is how to recoup that money after being appointed,” he said.He insisted the practice is not unique to the current APC administration, describing it as a longstanding problem in the country.
“It is the truth about our country and not just APC ministers; it started before the APC,” Hassan stated.
According to him, this culture of paying for appointments fuels corruption in public office, as those appointed often treat their positions as investments that must generate returns.
