Man Arrested for Impersonating Father in FCT Promotion Examination

A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating his father during a promotion examination for staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

Monsuru was caught writing the exam on behalf of his father, Musa Mohammed, an employee of the FCT Fire Service.

The incident happened on Wednesday at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) examination centre in Abuja, on the third day of the promotion exercise organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

Security personnel deployed to monitor the exams on the directive of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike apprehended the young man.

During questioning, Monsuru admitted he was not the registered candidate. He claimed his father had sent him to sit the exam because of a health condition and initially said his father was between 67 and 68 years old.

When Mohammed was questioned separately, he said he would turn 60 in February 2027, creating a discrepancy in their accounts.

He confirmed Monsuru was his biological son and admitted he asked him to take the examination due to his health. Mohammed also stated that he completed primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.

Both father and son were handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
