Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has mocked Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi, claiming the former Anambra governor can only win elections on social media, not at the polls.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ town hall meeting in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday, Wike said he would vote for Obi if the contest were for “social media president,” but insisted he was unfit to govern Nigeria.
“Truly speaking, I give Obi president of social media. If you were voting for the president of social media, I would vote for him,” Wike declared.
He further described Obi as a “stingy politician” who could not be trusted with Nigeria’s economy.
Wike, who is leading the APC presidential campaign in Abuja and Rivers, has consistently criticised Obi and other opposition candidates while expressing confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in January 2027.
