Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has called on Taraba residents to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Tompolo spoke on Saturday through Kestin Pondi, who
represented him at the launch of the “PBAT Door-to-Door Movement” grassroots
mobilisation campaign in Jalingo, the Taraba capital.
He said the state was benefiting from policies of the Tinubu
administration and that continuity was necessary to sustain the gains recorded
so far.
“Taraba is thriving because President Tinubu has good
reformation policies that are moving the state forward. If we want those
policies to continue and be more solid, to consolidate on them, we need to give
the president another four years,” he said.
Tompolo, who leads the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, said
another term would ensure continuity in the implementation of the
administration’s policies and also give Agbu Kefas, governor of the state, more
time to develop Taraba.
He also cited the reduction in fuel queues and disruptions
in university education as some of the changes recorded under the Tinubu
administration.
The former militant leader acknowledged that reforms could
come with challenges but said their benefits would become clearer with time.
“Every policy needs time to consolidate; every policy needs
time to show dividends. Every policy reformation will always come with its own
challenges, but once we bear a little and they pass, we will go to the smooth
road we are to ride on,” he said.
He urged members of the movement to take the mobilisation
campaign to homes, religious centres, wards, LGAs and polling units.
On his part, Kefas said residents of the state were already
seeing the impact of the federal government through projects being implemented
in Taraba.
“Taraba is ready. You don’t need to tell the people of
Taraba state what the president is doing; they are seeing what the president is
doing through me,” the governor said.
The governor said his administration remained committed to
the renewed hope agenda and pledged to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“I want to assure you that we are going to turn out en masse
and give the president 100 percent votes. We are ready for Mr. President,” he
said.
Earlier, Sunday Asuku, national coordinator of the PBAT
Door-to-Door Movement, said the group was in Taraba to mobilise support for
Tinubu and Kefas.
Asuku said Nigerians should maintain the current political
direction, arguing that abandoning the Tinubu administration’s reforms would be
counterproductive.
“The surest way for us today is the APC. We are on the right
trajectory and that is why we should remain where we are,” he said.
The event featured the donation of 25 campaign vehicles,
generators and electronic speakers for grassroots mobilisation.
