FBI offers $5,000 reward for Nigerian woman who failed to report for prison sentence

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Emuobosan Emanuella Hall, a Nigerian woman wanted for failing to report to serve a prison sentence in Louisiana.

Hall was due to begin serving an eight-year prison sentence in March after a judge allowed her to remain on bond following her sentencing in January.

However, the 45-year-old failed to show up, prompting authorities to issue an arrest warrant.

Hall was charged in April 2024 by a federal grand jury in New Orleans with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

She pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud mostly older women in a romance scam.

According to court documents, Hall and Kenneth G. Akpieyi, her codefendant, set up a company named Le Beau Monde LLC which they used in furtherance of romance scam.

Hall admitted responsibility for $851,207.00 in losses to victims of this scheme, while Akpieyi was found to be responsible for victim losses exceeding $3.5 million. Akpieyi was remanded into custody after trial, and he is currently serving his 25-year sentence.

In March, Hall failed to appear at the facility where she was to serve her time as ordered.

According to GPS data from her monitoring device, her last known location was Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on March 24 where the device ceased operating.

In a statement on Tuesday, the FBI said Hall had provided her probation officer with her flight information to Minnesota, where she was designated to serve her sentence.

According to airline records, Hall did not board that flight. Phone records suggest that Hall traveled to Dulles Airport outside of Washington, D.C, the FBI said.

The FBI added that Hall has ties to Warri, Oleh, and Abuja, Nigeria; London, Gloucester, and Croydon, England; and Atlanta, Georgia.  She speaks English and some Yoruba.

A US attorney said Hall’s failure to report to prison “reflects an utter lack of respect for the law”.

If convicted, Hall faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten years of imprisonment to be served consecutively to her prior sentence.

She may also be fined up to $250,000, and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee, the FBI said.
