An 18-year-old housewife, Fatima Dalha, has been arrested in Bauchi State after allegedly stabbing her 30-year-old husband during a quarrel over money and personal belongings.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning in Lirr Bajar, Dass Local Government Area, when an argument between the couple escalated into violence.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, Fatima reportedly picked up a knife and stabbed her husband in the stomach.
Police operatives rushed the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. The suspect was rescued from an angry mob that attempted to lynch her before officers intervened.
Authorities confirmed that the knife used in the attack was recovered and that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry.
Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed concern over rising cases of domestic violence among young couples.
He urged families to resolve disputes peacefully, warning that “a moment of anger can destroy two lives forever.”
Aliyu also cautioned against jungle justice, assuring residents that the police would handle the matter professionally and ensure justice is served.
