The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council has declared that its candidate, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, will campaign across all 36 states of Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the council, made the announcement during an interview on ARISE News.
He said the full campaign schedule would be released shortly and confirmed that no state would be left out.
Shaibu rejected suggestions that Atiku’s efforts would focus mainly on northern Nigeria.
He stated that the campaign would go beyond state-capital rallies to include town-hall meetings, community engagements, and visits to local government areas and villages.
The aim, he said, is for Atiku to connect directly with citizens facing hardship and listen to their concerns.
He framed economic difficulties as a shared national issue, noting that the struggles of people in different parts of the country are fundamentally similar, and predicted broad support for Atiku among those affected by hunger and related challenges.
Shaibu expressed strong confidence in Atiku’s prospects, saying the candidate’s appeal spans the entire country.
The statement comes against the backdrop of President Bola Tinubu’s decision to limit his personal participation in All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rallies to about 12 states.
Tinubu cited the need to balance campaigning with ongoing governance responsibilities, including financial obligations and attracting investment.
A reported APC timetable has Tinubu attending selected events from late October 2026 through early January 2027.
The 2027 presidential race is expected to feature extensive nationwide mobilisation by competing parties as candidates seek voter support.
