The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has congratulated Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on his inclusion in President Bola Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election.
A revised All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council list, released on Tuesday, names Soludo as Anambra State Coordinator. Other members include Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, and Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo.
President Tinubu will chair the council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda serving as vice-chairmen.In a statement signed by APGA National Publicity Secretary Ejimofor Opara, the party described Soludo’s appointment as recognition of his leadership, commitment to progressive values, and efforts to build a strategic partnership between APGA and the Federal Government for the benefit of Anambra people and the Igbo community more broadly.
Opara noted that Soludo’s slogan “Progressives are Working Together” reflects a deeper ideological alignment. APGA, which it described as Nigeria’s first truly progressive party, shares common ground with the progressive movement at the centre. This cooperation has already produced concrete results for Anambra, including federal support for infrastructure and economic projects.
The party reaffirmed that while it retains firm control of Anambra State, its stance for 2027 remains clear: Tinubu for President, and APGA candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly.
APGA formally adopted Tinubu as its consensus presidential candidate at a National Executive Committee meeting and during the President’s working visit to Anambra on 8 May 2025. As a result, the party is not fielding its own presidential candidate.
The statement expressed confidence that Soludo’s experience, organisational skills, and popularity in the South-East would help mobilise strong support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
