The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has given support groups working for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election five days to register or revalidate their membership ahead of the 2027 general election.
The exercise, which began on Saturday, October 17, will
close on Thursday, October 22, 2026, according to the campaign council.
The Director of the Support Groups Mobilisation Directorate
of the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council and former Deputy Governor of
Nasarawa State, Silas Agara, announced the launch of the online registration
portal at the national secretariat of the Tinubu Support Group in Abuja on
Sunday.
Agara urged all groups and volunteer networks supporting
Tinubu’s re-election to complete the process within the stipulated period,
regardless of whether they had previously registered with the APC or another
campaign organisation.
He said the exercise was designed to help the council verify
the groups, identify their locations and assess their organisational strength
to improve coordination across the country.
“Our objective is to build a unified mobilisation structure
that is organised, accountable, responsive and prepared for the demands of the
campaign ahead,” Agara said.
He described support groups as an important link between the
party, its campaign organisation and Nigerians, noting that they help
communicate government policies and engage citizens on issues affecting them.
Agara said the directorate would coordinate the groups,
strengthen their capacity and ensure their activities aligned with the broader
objectives of the APC presidential campaign.
He added that the mobilisation effort would focus on the
achievements and policies of the Tinubu administration under its Renewed Hope
Agenda.
According to him, the administration has introduced economic
and institutional reforms intended to address long-standing challenges and
support sustainable growth.
He listed the removal of the petrol subsidy, the unification
of foreign exchange rates, measures to strengthen local government autonomy and
tax reforms among the key policies of the administration.
Agara also cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which
provides financing for eligible students, and the Nigerian Consumer Credit
Corporation, established to expand access to consumer credit.
He said the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment
Initiative was supporting efforts to improve service delivery, strengthen
primary healthcare and increase access to specialised treatment, including
cancer care.
He said the support groups had a responsibility to explain
government policies and achievements while listening to public concerns.
“Our responsibility is to communicate the administration’s
achievements accurately, explain its policies clearly and listen to the
legitimate concerns of Nigerians,” he said.
Agara urged members of the groups to engage citizens
respectfully in their communities, workplaces, markets and neighbourhoods,
adding that the campaign should focus on credible information and constructive
dialogue.
He said the 2027 election would require proper organisation,
discipline and sustained grassroots engagement, urging the groups to use the
registration exercise to strengthen their coordination ahead of the poll.
