The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that internal party polls indicate President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Yilwatda said the ruling party had conducted surveys across the states and obtained statistics showing Tinubu leading potential challengers.
“We have done fact-finding; we are leading. We have done our polls. We have our own polls that give us the real statistics across the states,” he stated.
When asked whether the polls confirmed that Tinubu would emerge victorious, the APC chairman replied, “Of course!”
Yilwatda expressed confidence that the APC would defeat the opposition, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), whose presidential candidate is former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), which has Peter Obi as its candidate.
He argued that the opposition parties had yet to demonstrate sufficient electoral strength, noting their limited success in recent contests ahead of 2027.
Comparing the incumbent with Atiku, Yilwatda described Tinubu as “far better” than the former vice-president.
He also defended the administration’s economic reforms, saying the tax laws introduced under Tinubu have expanded the tax net, increased government revenue, and benefited the poorest Nigerians.
