2027: Yahaya Bello, Badaru, Lalong Meet Shettima Behind Closed Doors

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, former Jigawa State Governor Abubakar Badaru, former Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, and several other ex-governors and ministers on Monday held closed-door talks with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The delegation, identified as the leadership of the National Directorate of Arewa for Asiwaju Movement, arrived at the Villa around 4 pm and was taken straight to the Vice President’s wing of the State House.

At the time of their arrival, Shettima was still in another meeting at the President’s wing, which began at about 2 pm.

That earlier meeting was attended by the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, and the Special Adviser to the President and Coordinator of the Presidential Livestock Reform, Prof. Attahiru Jega (a former Independent National Electoral Commission chairman), among others.

Also spotted among the visiting group were the Director-General of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), and the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala-Usman.

The purpose of the visit was not officially stated, though sources described it as a courtesy call.

The meeting comes barely 48 hours before the planned inauguration of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

It also comes 12 days ahead of the party’s campaign flag-off in Kaduna State on October 24.
