2027: Seriake Dickson Not Working for Tinubu, APC; No Division in Our Party – NDC

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed reports suggesting that its national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, is collaborating with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a press briefing at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Saturday, National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas categorically rejected the claims and insisted that the NDC remains united and cohesive.

Cleopas addressed concerns that the party had become unusually inactive or was facing organisational challenges.

He said the leadership had received numerous inquiries from members, supporters and other Nigerians seeking clarification on the party’s activities and direction.

He reaffirmed that the National Working Committee, the National Executive Committee, the national leader and the party’s structures at state, local government and ward levels remain fully committed to supporting the party’s candidates.

Cleopas stated that Dickson was not engaged in any collaboration with the APC to undermine the NDC’s presidential candidacy.

He noted that the party’s decision to offer its platform to Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso demonstrated the leadership’s commitment to its political agenda.

“Dickson would never consider supporting Tinubu and the APC. Why would the NDC national leader undertake the complicated and costly process of establishing and registering a new political party when joining the APC would have been a simpler and more financially advantageous option?” he asked.

The chairman called on the media to practise responsible journalism when reporting allegations and political speculation, warning that false information could create unnecessary suspicion and mislead voters.

He also commended the judiciary for enabling the NDC’s registration and acknowledged the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while urging continued support for the electoral body.
