First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of Vice President Kashim Shettima, Hajia Nana Shettima, and other All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders on Monday called on Nigerian women to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Shettima, as well as APC candidates at all levels, in the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was made in Abuja during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Women Campaign Council (also described as part of a Women Stakeholders’ Mobilisation and Empowerment Pre-Inaugural Summit).
The First Lady urged women to promote the party from the presidency down to governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly races. She announced plans for six zonal mega rallies culminating in a grand finale in Abuja to mobilise women nationwide.
Tinubu said various independent women support groups, including Torchbearers, Tinubu Support Group, Tinubu Again and others had been collapsed into a single unified structure under the APC Presidential Women Campaign Council.
“What you will see on the ballot is APC. We are here to promote APC, nothing less. From the presidency to the governorship, National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly, that is what we are here for,” she stated.
Conveying greetings from the President, the First Lady highlighted what she described as positive outcomes of the administration’s reforms, including a stabilising economy, declining inflation, growing foreign reserves, returning investors, increased support for farmers, and student loans through NELFUND.
She called on women to speak with one voice and vote APC again so that the foundation laid can be built upon.Hajia Nana Shettima urged women from all six geopolitical zones to return to their communities and mobilise support.
She described 2027 as “payback time” for President Tinubu, citing the Renewed Hope Initiative’s work over the past three years in providing scholarships and support to students, empowering women, and assisting the elderly and persons with disabilities across the 36 states.
The event formed part of the APC’s early mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 polls, with women positioned as a key constituency in the campaign.
