Arise TV Morning Show co-hosts Reuben Abati and Rufai Oseni clashed on air on Thursday after Oseni made comments about the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Senator Sandy Onor.
The disagreement erupted while the panel was discussing a trending video of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
In the clip, Wike declared that he would deliver both the FCT and Rivers State to President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.
Oseni criticised Wike, questioning how a man who still holds the position of national leader in the PDP could openly campaign for an APC candidate instead of supporting his own party’s flagbearer. He went further, alleging that the PDP presidential candidate had been turned into a “Gbewudani” — a term he explained means “hold my clothes.”
Abati immediately intervened, cautioning his co-host against making potentially defamatory remarks. “You will get a lawsuit. The issue is the ‘Gbewudani’; you cannot damage the integrity of people,” Abati warned.
Oseni brushed aside the caution, insisting that Wike’s public stance amounted to mocking the PDP’s candidate. “You cannot say that there is a PDP candidate and you are openly saying that you are going to support Tinubu. That means you are making a mockery of the PDP candidate,” he replied.
The heated exchange was captured on live television and has since circulated widely online.
