Lere Olayinka, spokesman of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said the minister’s nuisance value made him local government chairman and governor twice.
Olayinka was reacting to remarks by a chieftain of the
African Democratic Congress, ADC, Ibrahim Modibbo, that Wike’s press
conferences are of a nuisance value.
Wike served as the Executive Chairman of the Obio Akpor
Local Government Area in Rivers State from 1999 to 2007.
The minister served as the governor of Rivers State from May
29, 2015, to May 29, 2023.
However, Modibbo charged Wike to stay indoors during the
2027 general elections and not harass the electorate.
Featuring on AIT’s Democracy Today, Modibbo on Friday
evening, said: “On the day of the election, Wike should stay in his house and
not go around harassing people.
“During the local government election he was going round the
city to harass people which he doesn’t have the right. Wike’s media chat is of
nuisance value.”
Responding, Olayinka said: “I can also say that your coming
here is of nuisance value, Wike’s nuisance value made him a local government
Chairman, that nuisance value made him governor for two terms, he won election
twice, with his nuisance value he said Atiku will not win 2023 and he did not;
but you that have nuisance value has not been governor or chairman, so whose
nuisance value is better.
“Nuisance value that made somebody a governor or the one
that has not made you anything.”
