Former House of Representatives Minority Leader and APC chieftain Farouk Aliyu has accused Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike of arrogance amid an ongoing feud with APC governors.
Aliyu made the remarks on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, responding to recent tensions between Wike and the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
The dispute escalated after APC governors, in a communiqué, rejected any political alliance that could undermine President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid or that of other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Wike later described the governors as “politically lazy” while speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time.
Reacting, Aliyu said: “Arrogance is not good in politics. We are not trying to be arrogant to the Nigerian people, but that’s what we think Wike is bringing.
“We appreciate what he did for us, and anybody that is willing to destroy his party for us, we welcome him, like Wike tried to destroy his party.
“Now, we will not allow him to also use our party, the APC, to build his own party, the PDP. He cannot come through the back door in the name of support for President Tinubu.”
Aliyu emphasised that while the party values Wike’s past contributions, it will not tolerate attempts to influence APC internal affairs or introduce divisive tactics associated with his former party.
