Akinyoola Ayoola, the Nigerian actor better known as Kamo State, has dismissed rumours of a conflict with filmmaker Funke Akindele following her absence at the premiere of his upcoming film ‘StarBoy’.
Akindele’s absence from the event sparked reactions on
social media, with users speculating that the two were no longer on good terms.
In an X post, Kamo State clarified that Akindele missed the
premiere because she was out of the country.
“I woke up to see different opinions online about Iyamii and
myself,” he wrote.
“Please we’re on good terms. She missed my premiere simply
because she wasn’t in the country and nothing more to it, so please don’t
assume otherwise.
“We’ve spoken about it, and she’s going to support this
film. I’d appreciate it if our personal relationship is not speculated on.
“Let’s keep our focus on the film, STARLOMO is coming this
Friday. See y’all at the box office!”
Kamo State is widely regarded as one of Akindele’s protégés.
In May, he described his relationship with the filmmaker as a divine blessing
and a major turning point in his career.
He disclosed that beyond giving him opportunities, she has
guided and shaped his growth in the industry, noting that she genuinely
supports his development and often pushes him to improve.
Kamo began his career as a skit maker, gaining attention
with his former partner Ozain as ‘Nepa Boys’ before the duo went solo. He
became famous for his humorous portrayal of a dramatic police officer.
In recent years, he has transitioned into acting, featuring
in several films including ‘Warlord’, ‘Behind The Scenes’, ‘Abanisete’,
‘Adunni’, ‘EverybodyLoves Jenifa’, and ‘Labake Olododo’.
