The Nigerian Army has announced the rescue of six kidnapped victims during separate operations in Kaduna and Katsina States.
Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for Operation Fansan Yamma, confirmed the development on Friday, noting that the rescues took place on September 17, 2026.
Kaduna RescueTroops of Sector 1, acting on intelligence, intercepted suspected terrorists moving abducted persons in Igabi Local Government Area.
On sighting the soldiers, the kidnappers fled, abandoning their captives.
Three victims, Enock Hussaini, Abba Dauda, and Kalif Haruna, were freed.
They had been abducted from Gidan Gulbi Village on September 11. The victims were debriefed and reunited with their families, while troops continued to secure the area.
Katsina RescueIn Katsina, Sector 2 troops responded to a distress call along the Dandume-Damari axis in Dandume Local Government Area.
After engaging the terrorists with “overwhelming firepower,” the soldiers rescued three victims: Abubakar Abdulkadir (25), Mansir Idris (26), and Abubakar Aliyu (21).
A black Golf vehicle belonging to the victims was also recovered. The rescued individuals were escorted safely to continue their journey.
The Army said the operations highlight the ongoing efforts of Operation Fansan Yamma to protect civilians, disrupt terrorist activities, and deny criminal groups freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
It urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
