Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six kidnapped victims following a gun battle with suspected terrorists along the Wasagu-Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operation took place on September 2, 2026, after security forces received intelligence about the presence of the suspects at Mehinua Village along the road.
Acting on the tip-off, soldiers from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, moved to the location to disrupt the criminals’ activities and free the captives.
Upon arrival, the troops encountered the terrorists and engaged them in an intense exchange of fire. Using superior firepower, the soldiers forced the suspects to abandon their victims and flee into the surrounding bush.
The troops then secured the area and rescued all six victims unharmed. A vehicle recovered during the operation was taken into custody.
Both the freed victims and the vehicle were later handed over to relevant community authorities for further action.
The successful rescue highlights the value of timely intelligence and rapid military response in combating kidnapping and other criminal activities along vulnerable routes in Nigeria’s North-West region.
