Troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have repelled an attempted attack by suspected terrorists in Rumirigo, Askira-Uba LGA of Borno state.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency
publication, that the incident occurred at about 11:10pm on August 29.
The publication said the troops were in an ambush position
in the area when they encountered the suspected terrorists.
“The troops responded with disciplined fire, forcing the
terrorists to retreat in confusion,” Makama said.
“During exploitation of the area after the encounter, the
troops recovered one pistol and seven rounds of 9mm ammunition. The recovered
items have been secured by 115 Task Force Battalion for further action,” Makama
said.
Makama added that the security situation across the theatre
remained relatively calm, despite the unpredictable nature of the threat.
Last month, troops of Operation Hadin Kai killed 26
terrorists while thwarting an attack in the north-east state.
