Sowore Pledges ₦500,000 Minimum Wage, 24-Hour Electricity if Elected in 2027

African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has promised to introduce a ₦500,000 monthly living minimum wage for Nigerian workers if elected president in the 2027 general elections.

In an interview outlining his party’s agenda, the activist and Sahara Reporters publisher also pledged to deliver 24-hour electricity supply, make education free and accessible at all levels, construct one million public mixed-income homes, and reform tenancy laws to end the practice of demanding one or two years’ rent in advance.

“Our agenda is revolutionary justice and equal rights. Nigeria is enormously wealthy, yet Nigerians have been deliberately impoverished through corruption, incompetence and an economic system designed to reward a tiny political and business elite. We intend to change that fundamentally,” Sowore said.

He argued that Nigerian workers can no longer survive on “starvation wages” while political office holders earn millions, adding that no serious industrial economy can run permanently on generators.

Healthcare, he stressed, must become a right rather than a privilege reserved for those who can afford medical tourism abroad.
