Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has said there are times he believes President Bola Tinubu is not fully in charge of his administration.
Obi made the remark during an interview on Arise TV on Thursday while discussing the state of the nation, insecurity, fuel prices, corruption and his plans ahead of the 2027 election.
He argued that the president should personally address Nigerians on critical national issues rather than allowing aides and associates to speak on his behalf.
“Sometimes I believe Tinubu is not in charge. All these things that his people are talking, he should be the one talking. Nobody will talk for Peter Obi. I will talk to my people,” Obi said.
The former Anambra State governor also criticised Tinubu’s frequent foreign trips, urging him to spend more time visiting insecurity-hit areas of the country.
He specifically called on the president to visit states such as Zamfara, Sokoto, Plateau and Kano to personally assess the security situation on the ground.
