Two prominent figures of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, Abubakar Attajiri and Aminu Gidan-Kanawa, have officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
Attajiri, who served as the ADC’s deputy youth leader in the state, and Gidan-Kanawa defected with their supporters on Saturday.
They were formally received at the APC state secretariat by the party chairman, Haruna Adiya, alongside other leaders.
Welcoming the new members, Adiya assured them of equal opportunities within the party structure.
The defectors explained that their decision was motivated by the achievements of Governor Ahmed Aliyu and the leadership of former governor and current senator, Aliyu Wamakko.
They pledged to mobilize grassroots support for the APC ahead of the elections.
