Arise News anchor Rufai Oseni has strongly criticized Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, for urging President Bola Tinubu to prevent the release of FBI documents linked to his alleged drug trafficking case.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Rufai questioned the morality of a religious leader advising concealment of past controversies, especially when they concern national integrity.
He warned that attempts to suppress such documents could damage Nigeria’s global reputation, noting that unresolved legal issues surrounding Tinubu might invite ridicule.
“Which kind of shepherd tells people to hide their past when it concerns a nation?” Rufai asked, adding, “With what Primate Ayodele has said in the past, can you make him shepherd over your life?”
Rufai’s remarks highlight growing debate over the intersection of politics, religion, and accountability in Nigeria’s public life.
