The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old prophet, Nicholas Nusa, in connection with the alleged abduction of five girls in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.
Nusa, overseer of Divine Grace Church along Imoga Road in Ibillo, is also accused of impregnating one of the girls, a 15-year-old.
Police said the girl, who recently underwent a Caesarean section, is receiving medical care in hospital and has been placed under the care of the Brave Heart Organisation.
According to the command, the children were allegedly taken from the Ibillo and Imoga communities on different occasions between September 2025 and April 2026 and kept at the suspect’s residence.
Command spokesperson Eno Ikoedem said the arrest followed information received by the police. She stated that the suspect allegedly admitted to the offences during questioning by investigators.
Ikoedem added that efforts are ongoing to locate and reunite the children with their families, while investigations into the allegations continue.
